The Malkangiri District Disari Peda Pujari Association, based in Malkangiri District, Odisha, operates across the entire Malkangiri Revenue District boundary. Founded on August 15, 1995, Under the leadership of both Sri Gagan Kumar Dhal IAS,District Collector & District Magistrate as Founder President and Dr. Niranjan Satapathy MBBS ,Assistant Surgeon as Founder Secretary this organisation is committed to empowering tribal communities by leveraging the traditional roles of Disaris, Pedas, and Pujaris.
A program to train Disaris in modern health practices, enabling them to provide medical support to tribal communities, leveraging their traditional roles as village healers.
This initiative trains Pujaris to integrate modern educational and cultural activities, preserving tribal heritage while introducing new learning opportunities.
Designed to equip Pedas with skills in veterinary care and sustainable agriculture, enhancing village leadership and promoting ideal model villages.
Aimed at eliminating superstitious beliefs and negative social stigmas, this program fosters development and awareness across tribal societies.

Shri Gagan Kumar Dhal, a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is one of the visionary founder of the Malkangiri District Disari Peda Pujari Association. Serving as the District Collector & District Magistrate of Malkangiri, Odisha, he along with Dr.Niranjan Satapathy MBBS initiated the organization on August 15, 1995, following a pivotal meeting with Disaris, Pedas, and Pujaris to address tribal challenges. With a deep commitment to tribal welfare, Shri Dhal leveraged his administrative expertise to empower these traditional community leaders, aiming to enhance health, education, and overall development. His leadership continues to guide the association’s mission to uplift Malkangiri’s tribal communities.
Dr. Niranjan Satapathy MBBS is a dynamic promising doctor dedicated to the cause of the needy tribals with the philosophy of “Reverence for Life “. He is a polymath and renaissance man with deepest realisation of tribal lifestyle and culture. In 1995 August 15,he along with Sri Gagan Kumar Dhal IAS founded the Malkangiri District Disari Peda Pujari Association with a vow to eradicate the age old traditions of superstitions prevailing in the tribal community in every aspect of life be it social or spiritual and infuse the society with modern realistic practices of new vigour in the field of health, education ,women’s empowerment and overall development through the acumen of the Disaris ,Pedas and Pujaris. To his credit, Dr.Niranjan Satapathy, is completely and tirelessly involved with heart and soul in the developmental process of the tribal locality since 1988 May till today.
